B i o g r a p h y 

Vinícius Perez is a Jazz guitarist from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil that has been catching the audience’s attention. His personal approach to Jazz guitar playing, which aligns elements of his classical music formation to the fiery rhythms and rich melodic contour of the Bebop language is outstanding. His versatility and fluency in musical discourse make him one of the best instrumentalists and arrangers of his generation. 

 

He studied classical guitar, earning a Bachelor's degree from Rio de Janeiro State University (Magna cum Laude) and a Master's degree from Hochschule Luzern - Musik.

Perez's passion for music took him further into the world of Early plucked string instruments, earning another Master's degree from the Musik Akademie Basel. He taught at Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (ESML) in Lisbon, Portugal, for a year. In 2015, he released his first solo record, "The Galant Lute," which received critical acclaim from the press and Early Music specialists like Hopkinson Smith and Peter Croton.

 

Perez's musical journey then took a turn towards the electric guitar and Jazz. He became captivated by the smooth sound of Jazz guitar and has since been composing, arranging, recording, and playing professionally in Rio de Janeiro. His music has reached a global audience through social media, earning compliments from renowned Jazz guitarists like Davy Mooney and Sean McGowan as well as from the renowned archtop guitar maker Robert Benedetto.

 

Vinícius Perez has also recorded with the ensembles Concerto Ibérico and Contrapunct_us as well as with the Rio de Janeiro Guitar Quartet. 

 

Vinícius Perez has played in several Countries such as: Switzerland, Germany, Italy, France, Portugal, England, Austria, Israel, Estonia, Czech Republic, Poland.
